Juniors programme at Grow Jiu Jitsu

Juniors Programme

Juniors Programme

Our juniors programme is designed to help young people develop confidence, discipline, and resilience through Brazilian Jiu Jitsu — all while having fun and making friends.

A Safe Space to Learn

Every session is led by qualified, DBS-checked coaches who genuinely care about each child's wellbeing and development. Instructors are experienced in teaching neurodivergent children and catering to their additional learning needs. We maintain a strict anti-bullying policy and create an atmosphere where every young person feels welcome and valued.

What They'll Learn

BJJ teaches children far more than just technique. Through regular training, your child will develop:

  • Confidence — Learning to handle challenges builds genuine self-belief
  • Discipline — The structure of martial arts teaches focus and self-control
  • Respect — Training with partners requires communication, trust, and mutual care
  • Fitness — Every session is a full-body workout disguised as play
  • Problem-solving — BJJ is like physical chess, encouraging creative thinking

Age Groups

We run separate sessions for different age groups, ensuring that the content and intensity are appropriate for each stage of development. Our coaches adapt their teaching style to keep younger children engaged and older juniors challenged.

From the Mat to Life

The skills your child develops in BJJ carry over into school, friendships, and everyday life. We regularly hear from parents that their children are calmer, more focused, and more confident after training with us.

What BJJ Gives Your Child

Far more than a sport — BJJ builds skills for life

Physical Benefits

BJJ requires children to use their bodies as one unit, increasing all-over body strength, mobility, flexibility and stamina.

Mental Benefits

BJJ requires as much mental activity as physical — often likened to a game of physical chess. Techniques are studied just like a school subject and learned to be physically applied, strengthening mental focus. Classes promote a positive attitude and the persistence to succeed.

New Friends

The BJJ class is a place where your child will make lifetime friends and learn to respect everyone in a group with mixed cultures. Most people who start BJJ continue for the rest of their life — your child will grow and learn with friends they met on the mats and kept for a lifetime.

Tangible Goals

BJJ offers exciting incentives with striped promotions and progression through the IBJJF belt system. The environment of goal setting teaches your child how to set a goal and see the reward for doing the steps necessary to achieve it — skills that translate into academic and career goals too.

Belt Stripes & Promotions

Students receive stripes on their belts at set times between grades to help them recognise and feel good about their progression. Each belt receives four stripes, and following the fourth the next belt is awarded. Promotions are based on clear criteria so students always know what they're working towards.
